The notion behind their television sensation was that a couple looking to enlarge their family to three by way of in vitro fertilization ended up enlarging it to a family of eight instead. Truth be told, the news probably isn't that new to the Gosselin family or the producers over at TLC. World is that in order for the couple to be able to file for divorce, they would have had to been living separate and apart for two years. The unfortunate part of this story is how the whole event will affect their kids. In most situations with a couple splitting up, the transition to single life and dating isn't that uncommon. If as in this case, the couple has already been sort of living apart for a while, the adjustment becomes easier in time. The problem in this case is that it is not typical. This whole thing is making news because they have a television show about their lives. It isn't really even a good one.

If the Gosselins only had three kids, as originally planned, nobody would care.
