Jon Gosselin Halts Production

Jon Gosselin has left the hotel rooms and trendy evening hot spots to take back his role as father. His first order of business was to affix a sign to the fence surrounding the Pennsylvania home that He and Kate alternately share with their eight children. The sign forbids all future taping of his children by the T.L.C. network which is part of the Discovery channel affiliates. What does this mean for the future of his children? At first glance it seems as though he is trying to protect his children from further public scrutiny while their parents muddle through a difficult divorce. Look again and it is obvious that this attempt to protect his children has just anchored them more securely on a ship that is rapidly sinking. If someone doesn't throw all of them a life jacket soon these poor kids will be the focus of a serious search and rescue team.

Is Jon a bit miffed that his role on the show was about to be greatly diminished? Probably, but in retrospect wasn't that what he has been wanting for at least a year? Kate on the other hand flourishes under the bright lights of Hollywood. She shines like a precious gem and the camera loves her. Jon did not fare well on camera when he was in the home with Kate. Kate is a self proclaimed perfectionist. It's important to her that the children eat well balanced organic meals. Jon was fine throwing them a frozen pizza, cooked of course but not organic, when Kate went on travel gigs. If I had gone through the trouble of fixing and freezing wholesome meals for my kids and found out my husband couldn't be bothered to nuke them I think I'd burst a blood vessel here and there too. We are all well aware of the many instances of venomous verbal barbs shot Jon's way by Kate only to be halted with the classic, "Jon eye roll".

It's evident that Kate got sick of raising Jon along with the eight she already has. Jon seems to be the classic embodiment of "Peter Pan syndrome". He liked the mothering just fine until he had to share Kate times eight. What's a defiant child to do? Well, a man-boy such as Jon goes off and has a public temper tantrum. Then he has another and another. He cries on other mothering womens shoulders and they all pat him on the back or wherever until he feels better. When that stops working and he gets some really bad press in the form of Kate number two. He lies about it. Petulant child now is pouting and not getting what he thought he was going to get. What he thought he was going to get was a continued payout from the show and his freedom to act out his second adolescence in the public eye. Unfortunately for him he didn't count on consequences. A family oriented reality show that has been running for over four years cannot possibly include Jon's new act.

After shooting himself in the proverbial foot he is now hobbling around crying foul. All the while he continues to put his children smack dab in the middle of his divorce from their mother. He proclaims the children no longer want to be on the show. Kate says the kids are sad that the taping has ended. If Jon feels as though the show has become detrimental to the well being of his kids then maybe docking this ship is for the best. I just hope that he has been sending out his resumes regularly in every port he has since visited because he is going to have to support this family one way or another. Just five short years ago Jon Gosselin was a middle class computer analyst eking out a living like the rest of us. Kate Gosselin was a registered nurse and worked very hard to help support their twins, Mady and Cara.

When Aaden, Joel, Colin, Hannah, Leah, and Alexis Gosselin joined the crew these parents had to find a new way to support this family. A documentary blossomed into a full fledged career and the public fell in love with all of them. It seemed like a dream come true and the advantages the family enjoyed by allowing cameras to roll while "Jon and Kate Plus 8" were just being themselves were fantastic. They were afforded travel to places any kid would love to go. We got to get a peek at what life is life for a family of two sets of multiples. It is heartbreaking to see what has become of them. I shudder at the thought that some day these children will read things about their parents that no children need ever learn. If only Jon and Kate Gosselin could hit the rewind button and start out all over again. Today might be very different for them. Jon could be coming home at the end of a long day as Kate passes him in the doorway on her way to begin a double shift at the local hospital. Many of us can relate to that life. It might be a crazy life but it's our life after all, isn't it?
