Jon Hamm SNL Sequel Shows Off Hamm's Comedy and Body

Jon Hamm's SNL episode last year was considered a big hit. The Jon Hamm SNL episode this year had similarly high expectations for the Mad Men star. Already this season, fellow Mad Men co-star January Jones came on the show, and was widely panned, unlike her now ex-TV husband. Last year's show displayed a new comedic side to Don Draper, and helped him get on 30 Rock to boot. For the Jon Hamm SNL return, he came back for more self-parody, and to take off his shirt a lot.

Hamm has gone from an unknown to the newest modern day sex symbol in just a few years. For those interested in him for shallow reasons, SNL gave them a few reasons to watch. He got to be shirtless and play the sax in a bizarre digital short, where he plagued a cursed executive as 'Sergio'. After that, he got to seduce Democratic leaders as new Senator Scott Brown.

Since the show was off during the Massachusetts special election, SNL had to make up for lost time. The State of the Union was addressed in the cold open, where President Obama started by blasting Martha Coakley's incompetence.

For Jon Hamm's part on SNL, he didn't have another 'Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women' or offer more slices of 'Jon Hamm's John Ham." But he did show his Don Draper persona in earlier acting jobs, and opened the restaurant "Hamm and Bubly" with very reluctant musical guest Michael Bubly.

The Jon Hamm SNL episode didn't have the giant beard he had been wearing for the last several weeks. That may make some of his female fans relieved, but Hamm will be back on 30 Rock in a Valentine's episode next Thursday, so he might have filmed that before he shaved.

In addition to showing off Hamm and catching up with politics, SNL spoofed Jersey Shore once again on Weekend Update. Bobby Moynihan was again in drag and heavy orange tan as Snookie, discussing the cast's recent demands for more money. But not even the Jersey Shore cast is more powerful yet than alien sports analyst Greg, who also came back to spawn some followers.

Jon Hamm's SNL return was the latest 2010 episode in which the show brought back an old host. Charles Barkley and Sigourney Weaver had to wait decades to come back, however, while Hamm only waited over a year. He and the Mad Men bunch have already conquered drama, and now not even comedy is safe from the Sterling Cooper team - or at least from Hamm himself.

Next week, another former host with many female fans comes back, as Ashton Kutcher will host SNL for the fourth time next Saturday. But first, the show will show its best sports sketches again tonight.
