Jon and Kate Announcement Promo Triggers Divorce Rumors

Hartley Engel
The big Jon and Kate announcement is a white hot search topic on the web today and that is in no small part due to rumors that the couple will be divorcing and to the fact that TLC is promoting the Jon and Kate announcement - which will be revealed next Monday on a special one-hour episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" - like nobody's business. The Jon and Kate announcement promo video can be seen at the bottom of this article.

The obvious assumption is that the Jon and Kate announcement will address the subject of divorce - namely Jon and Kate's divorce. After all, the promo says that the announcement will "affect every member of our family." However, the Jon and Kate announcement might concern something else.

Some are speculating, for instance, that the couple will announce that they have agreed to a trial separation; others believe that they may have decided to end their TV show in an effort to get out of the glare of the media spotlight and save their troubled marriage.

Controversy has been swirling around the couple for weeks now and it has no doubt put an enormous strain on Jon and Kate Gosselin's 10-year-old marriage. First there were the rumors of an affair between Jon Gosselin and 23-year-old third-grad school teacher Deanna Hummel.

And then Kate Gosselin herself was accused of having an extramarital affair with her married bodyguard Steve Nields. As well, a photo has been leaked onto the Internet that allegedly shows Kate Gosselin spanking her daughter Leah.

Of course, it's hard not to conclude that all the drama and hype is a shameless publicity stunt (ratings for the show been declining rather dramatically lately).

One hopes that the Jon and Kate announcement - whatever it is about - will help bring a sense of peace to the Gosselin's - and especially to their eight children.

Many feel that it would be in the family's best interest to end the show. But many also feel that that is unlikely to happen because of their strong perception that both Jon and Kate enjoy the attention and the monetary rewards that accompany it.

Meanwhile, many "Jon & Kate Plus 8" fans are waiting with bated breath for Monday night to roll around.

First of all I have only watched this show a couple of times. Having multiples can be very expensive, so I can see the allure of having your own tv show. However, both of them have paraded their family and their drama in the limelight for their own benefit, Not only do these kids have to live in the limelight but now the divorce of their family is forever captured on film. I find both parents disgusting. She parades around like some sort of super-Christian and above it all but would sell her family for a dime. He just seems like a beaten down playboy. UUUGGH! Those poor kids!

It's sad their marriage has come to this. I'm a divorced dad, so I know the pain they are enduring. Jon and Kate have no idea what divorced parenting is like. They'll have a ton of single parent, coparenting, multi-home issues to deal with, not the least of which is how to spend birthdays (8!) and holidays together: http://dadshouseblog.com/2009/05/28/jon-and-kate-divorce-future/

The kids are the losers in this. They are sweet little kids. They did not deserve this. On the other hand I think that people should leave Kate alone. Did anyone see any emotion on Jon's face? All we saw were those stupid earrings. JON GROW UP AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT POOR JON. You are not complaining about all the toys (car, motor cycle, stupid earrings) you received from the show. We all are to blame in this process. Every week we tuned it again and again.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! I never thought this would happen 2 them but then again it would've sooner or later because of how many kids they have and it just seems that both of them have different ways of responding to the kids.

I believe a marriage comes FIRST in any relationship%252C if Kate would have listened and noticed her husbands obvious misery and would have stopped being so selfish she might could have salvaged her marriage. She said he hasn%2527t talked to her about anything%252C really%253F%253F seriously%253F%253F and WHY would he talk to her%252C she degrades everything he does and NEVER EVER says anything positive to him. Look at tonight episode%252C he clears land%252C wants the playhouses in a certain area%252C she walks all over him%252C yet again. A marraige is two people treating each other equally and supporting one another. The poor man has been abused beyond explanation...frankly I%2527m surprised he has made it this far...I%2527m all for women%2527s lib and I myself have had to stop and catch myself from treating my husband as a child...he is a MAN%252C with opinons and knowledge and has to be treated as such. Congratulations Jon%252C I hope you find someone who treats you with res

The real losers here are the kids. They shouldn't have so darn many if they weren't really into working through their marriage. It takes good, old fashioned hard work; something they apparently don't understand. I feel sorry for their children.
