Jon and Kate Plus 8 Go Green

Kate Goes Mean, Not Green

I admit, I was a HUGE fan of this show back in the day, when Jon and Kate were a happily married couple with a very large, very cute family and were just taking things one day at a time. I even still watched the show when the masses started turning on it because of Kate's emotional and verbal abuse towards Jon, and because of how the two of them together were accused of exploiting their adorable kids to reap financial benefits.

I haven't watched the show in awhile, but did tune in for last night\'s showing of Jon and Kate Plus 8 Go Green and wow, I have to say, I have now joined forces with the other side.

First of all, I thought that the whole purpose of the episode was to promote the main reason for going green - to save our dying planet, which we have all contributed to slowly killing away piece by piece. Probably even more so with the Gosselin family of 10 , in their million dollar house with lights on in all the rooms and eating off of paper plates that get thrown away after each and every meal.

If that was the purpose for the show, then TLC sure did make the wrong choice in using Kate Gosselin to promote that. Not only did she seem entirely ungrateful for being gifted a number of green tools to be energy efficient, which included the parts and installation of solar panels, solar thermals, a reclaimed wood picnic table, and LED lights, but it seems like she doesn't even really CARE about saving the earth. To her, the cost effectiveness was the main reason for doing it. Please lady.

In last night's episode, while Jon and her were sitting in their now famous interview chair, Jon mentioned that by taking part in this green movement, they are making the world a better place for their kids, and all their descendants thereafter. To which Kate adds that for her it's not so much about that, "because you know, the earth is going to die anyway", but it's more about the cost effectiveness. Ok, fine, well I know that cost benefit does play a huge part in going green and is definitely a factor most people take into consideration when making an expensive, green capital investment, like buying a hybrid car, or installing solar panels. I totally get that and am on board with that too. But it was just her whole attitude during the show that was totally and completely appalling.

She complained and hated the whole project from beginning to end and made it very clear every single chance she had. She was as horrible and as rude as any person could get to Steve Thomas, host of TLC's Renovation Nation. Steve Thomas was the unlucky guy to get to work with Kate on this project and was the truly proud, promoter of going green and all the reasons why it's important to do so, while Kate used every opportunity to make fun of it, make it seem stupid, and just all the terrible things you would expect from Kate Gosselin. I still don't get why TLC would actually air the show and all of the things she said. It was seriously painful to watch.

The worst part was when Steve Thomas listed for Kate all the areas in which her new green improvements would save them money, she answered back with "You know they're probably going to edit out most of what you just said right?" Really Kate, I thought the only reason why you liked this improvement was for cost effectiveness. Actually, she probably just made that up to sound somewhat legitimate. She probably doesn't need to really worry about money thanks to her kids and all the freebies she mooches off of sponsors because of them.

TLC truly needs to cut them off. Then maybe the kids could have a normal life, the parents might be able to focus on saving their marriage, and Kate just might be able to grow a human heart.
