Jon Stewart Calls Out Low-life Republicans on 9-11 Responders

Jeff Musall
The tragedy of the attacks on America of September 11, 2001 didn't end that day, even for those who responded without hesitation to help those in need. 9/11 first responders are called heroes by Republicans, and then are ignored and essentially spat upon by them.

It's not the first time, Michael Moore's movie "Sicko" highlights neglect of 9/11 responders during the Bush Administration. Today's Republicans, however, are even more blatantly arrogant in their desire to not vote in favor of anything positive for Americans.

Jon Stewart, on the December 13th edition of The Daily Show, goes after Senate Republicans on the 9/11 responder issue with a spot on piece detailing the abject hypocrisy of a group of individuals completely bereft of character.

Stewart opens up talking about Republicans who are holding all legislation hostage if not given tax cuts to the very rich. He points out the blocking of DADT legislation and the DREAM ACT, then goes to 9/11 first responders.

"Since when does the Republican Party make 9/11 first responders go stand in the corner with the gays and Mexicans?" Stewart asks, before going on to absolutely skewer the Republicans blocking compensation for 9/11 first responders. He calls the legislation "the least we can do/no-brainer act of 2010."

Look at the link here to see Jon Stewart take on the human garbage some people call their Senators. Stewart takes them on strongly, even going through a roll call of sorts, showing Republican Senators using 9/11 for political propaganda - then voting against first responders.

Stewart says Republicans have given up the right to use 9/11 imagery to "get yourselves elected." He goes on, "no more using 9/11 as the date when magically, all your policies became right." Oh, if only more Americans had come to a similar conclusion years ago.

Again, the question must be posed. If you aren't a racist or a homophobe, if you aren't against working Americans and their families, if you aren't for enriching the very rich even more, if you aren't for instilling fear and using it for gain, why would you vote Republican?

The agenda for today's Republican Party is summed up easily. Concentrate wealth and power in fewer and fewer hands. If those hands be male and white, all the better. Watch the clip of Jon Stewart here, and tell me, how can you defend them?

Jon Stewart is telling it like it is. The GOP is the party of NO. It is sickening that they keep talking about 9/11 in campaigns and use it in ads, but the GOP says NO to health care for first responders. And the first responders are heroes. They deserve the best care and instead the GOP is treating them shabbily.

True-to-form view, and spoken like a true Democrat. Too bad it's biased and taking down the country.

    The Stewart piece was brilliant.

I would have thought that as much political use as the Repubs had made of the whole 9/11 situation, the 9/11 responders would have been the one group of the not-rich that they would have had a little compassion for.

Those who believe that Republicans and Tea Cups are going to "Stop the Pork" and that the Constitution applies only to heterosexuals are the most delusional of sheep. By continuing the Bush tax cuts, the Republicans have visited "Tax Hikes" upon all Americans Bonnett. Jeff and Stewart are spot on.

Republicans don't object to big government, they just hate it when it helps people.

Torture, war, spying ... .fine. Money for the poor, the kids, the old, the heroes or the troops? Can't afford it! More tax cuts for the millionaires!
