Jon Stewart Most Influential Man of 2010

Ask Men Magazine Poll Votes Jon Stewart Among the 49 Most Influential Men in America

This one doesn't surprise me, frankly. As one who considers herself a conservative on many issues, a libertarian on a few others and perhaps even a liberal on still others, Jon Stewart is one of those people that I can actually relate to.

I mean, let's just put it out there now, the guy is hysterical. But, he's also smart. Very smart. And he's not afraid to take anybody on, be they liberals or conservatives. And for that, I admire the guy. It also sounds like the readers of Ask Men.com do as well.

Jon Stewart was voted one of the most influential men of 2010 by the readers of Ask Men, based on the fact that he has been able to "engage millions in the process of politics", according to the magazine poll. If Jon Stewart were not as informed and involved as he is in politics, I might find this poll a bit disturbing. But, the fact is, he is nobody's fool and like him or not, conservatives, he is informed.

Jon Stewart Takes Everybody On

Jon Stewart appears on The O'Reilly Factor on a regular basis and always demonstrates a remarkable grasp and understanding of political issues and can go toe to toe with Bill O'Reilly any day of the week. While I may not agree with many of Jon Stewart's positions, I do admire that the guy is well reasoned and always presents a very well-thought out point of view.

But, lest you think that Jon Stewart saves his arguments for conservatives only, you only have to see him on CNN's Cross-Fire or Larry King Live to know that he hammers on liberal democrats every bit as much as he does conservative republicans.

Jon Stewart Engages People in Politics

As a result, Jon Stewart gives a voice to many Americans in this country who are, quite frankly, sick and tired of the vitriol and insanity that is present in politics today. Blame it on the Internet, blame it on 24-hour cable news, blame it on the Romans. But, however you slice it up, the guy has hit on a nerve. Else he wouldn't be showing up as one of the most influential men of 2010.

Personally, I think it's well deserved and is an accurate measure of the zeitgeist of this country. Rock on, Jon Stewart.
