RadarOnline is reporting that Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been banned from flying on United Airlines due to a recent drunken outburst before he was schedule to board the plane.
This is not Jonathan's first trouble with public drunkenness and bad behavior. In 2007, the Irish hunk was arrested in a Dublin airport for being drunk and disorderly and disturbing the peace.
In 2009, a drunk Rhys Meyers was arrested for assaulting the bar staff at the Charles De Gaulle Airport in France. In fact, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has a long history with alcohol abuse and has been in and out of rehab for his drinking several times in the past three years.
In the United Airlines incident, Jonathan Rhys Meyers was waiting to board a plane in New York's JFK Airport for a flight to Los Angeles. While waiting for the boarding call, Jonathan decided he would have a few drinks - at 7:00 a.m. When the airport staff noticed he was drunk, they would not allow him to board the plane which prompted the outburst.
During the scuffle with airport officials, Jonathan reportedly screamed the 'N' word, though those involved in the situation said they weren't sure if he was using the slur toward an specific person or just screaming it in general.
Anyway you look at it though, things are not looking good for Jonathan Rhys Meyers, which is really rather unfortunate when you consider his raw talent and smoldering sex appeal on screen. But, good looks, talent and a large bank account, does not a happy and well adjusted person make. Drug and alcohol abuse continues to be a rampant and destructive problem among the celebrity crowd and particularly among Hollywood actors.
Hopefully, Jonathan Rhys Meyers can find his way back to a good drug and alcohol rehab center and get himself clean and sober once and for all. He is far too talented to waste his life and good health to the destruction of alcoholism.
Besides, Hollywood is very forgiving when actors take their work seriously and their sobriety even more seriously. Just ask Demi Moore, Drew Barrymore, Robert Downey, Jr. and Mel Gibson.

Post a CommentYes, some would certainly say that, Malina. Alcohol affects people in odd ways. I'm not an alcoholic, so I can't speak with any certainty, but I do know I've said and done some pretty stupid things when under the influence. If Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a racist, well, I guess only time will tell.
Well, the booze made him show his true color!
