The New York Post reports that Joran Van der Sloot -- currently in custody on suspicion of murdering Stephany Flores -- gave an interview to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, in which he admits to demanding money from the family of Natalee Holloway. The latter was last seen with Van der Sloot before she disappeared (and presumably died) in 2005.

His rationale is callous: "I wanted to get back at Natalee's family -- her parents have been making my life tough for five years."

When Van der Sloot is not asking that his copious, publicly made confessions be retracted, he fields marriage proposals from women interested in bearing the alleged/confessed murderer's child. It is interesting to note why Dutch newspapers interview him or why Peruvian authorities grant the press repeated access to the suspected killer of Stephany Flores and Natalee Holloway.
