Joran Van Der Sloot: Is He a Serial Killer?

Stephany Flores Ramirez, Natalee Holloway . . . Could There Be More?

Deb Martin-Webster
The capture and arrest of Joran van der Sloot is headline news all over the world. Natalee Holloway was the first victim of this monster or was she? Is it possible that van der Sloot is a serial killer who by the power of family money slipped through the cracks? It's well known that crimes of this nature do not start overnight. That they are well honed and crafted. Could it be that this man left a trail of victims? I truly believe that he has killed before and that many of the women who were listed as missing or runaways could have been murdered at the hands of this sociopath.

In Aruba the Aruban government had him in custody for questioning and let go due to lack of concrete evidence. Natalee Holloway had the unfortunate luck of meeting and socializing with this animal. And to add insult to injury he had the audacity to pray for her family in hopes they find the real killer. In an FBI sting to gain information from him he tried to negotiate a deal with the Holloway family in hopes he would lead them to Natalee's remains. Instead he used the money to book passage to Peru where his second victim Stephany Flores Ramirez was brutally murdered in a hotel room. And even worst to take the attention off himself after her murder he casually left the room, walked to a near by coffee shop, ordered two cups of coffee and returned to the scene of the crime; as though nothing happened.

His lack of remorse is what, in my opinion, makes him the perfect serial killer. His sense of superiority and guile is text book sociopathic behavior. But what makes him the ultimate and most terrifying killer is his ability to blend in as a typical, kind, young man when in reality he is a vicious predator preying on vulnerable young women. How many others did he murder while posing as an international gentleman? How many other mothers are mourning their daughters in hopes they will return home? If there is an international investigation I'm sure other victims will be found. My hope is that he in a moment of redemption confesses to Natalee Holloway's murder and divulges the location of her remains so her family may have final closure. It is also my hope that he never sees the light of day again. Stephany Flores Ramirez, Natalee Holloway . . . could there be more?

Beautifully done, he is quite a nut.

I hope too that he confesses. It does look as if he is guilty, and who knows what other crimes he may have committed. Great reporting.

Thank you all for your comments on this emotional editorial. I had the opportunity to chat with an expert on the subject of serial killers a few years ago. Dr. Jack Levin, professor of Sociology and Criminology at Northeastern University. Van Der Sloot fits the profile. Jack has profiled for 20/20, Dateline NBC and America's Most Wanted. Thankfully Van Der Sloot was captured and hopefully will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

I am afraid there are many girls in Thailand he may have recruited into the sex industry, who may have been troubled already and not automatically be missed. I agree with the author there are probably more bodies. He is a pimp and a predator.

One must wonder what is in the mind of such depraved individuals. Scary that they walk around and look like normal, law abiding citizens.

Scary idea! If he's guilty, I hope he gets what is coming to him.

Time will tell.....if he is guilty I certainly hope justice is served as it should be.
