Much like the Barrymores, the Bridges acting family legacy continues.
It all started with actor Lloyd Bridges who made hundreds of film, television movies and appearances in his lifetime. You may recall him from such movies as "Airplane," "Sea Hunt" or even Battlestar Gallactica.
After Lloyd came sons Beau and Jeff Bridges. Beau has appeared in over a hundred movies and television series himself including "The Fabulous Baker Boys," and Franklin & Bash. Jeff is probably the most recognizable of the Bridges legacy, especially for his roles in "The Fisher King," "Tucker: The Man and His Dream," "Tron" and "Tron: Legacy."
And now there's Jordan Bridges.
Born November 13, 1973, to Beau Bridges and wife Julie Landfield, he is the latest of the Bridges family to dip his toes into acting waters.
One of his first roles was in "The Thanksgiving Promise" alongside the entire Bridges family. But Jordan didn't want to be known as a child actor so he shied away from acting for the duration of his childhood and attended Oakwood school, a progressive school in Los Angeles.
But Jordan was destined to become an actor. As a child he acted out roles of some of his childhood heros such as Bruce Lee and Mighty Mouse. His Grandmother Dorothy had the Bridges children conduct expressive exercises.
Jordan attended Bard College where he studied Poetry, Film Theory, Natural History and Contemporary Film. In his Junior year he was accepted to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. There he learned to fence and attented theater on the West End. He also realized during this time that he is not a drinking man.
Once he graduated from Bard College, Jordan began his acting career - sort of. Like most aspiring actors, he worked as a "cater waiter" while working his way into film.
But acting isn't his only interest. Jordan has performed with a rock band, "The Mighty Thermos," and sung the blues as "Squirly Blind-boy." He has studied fencing and has devoted over ten years to learning the art of Kung Fu.
His very first role was at the age of five in "The Kid From Nowhere" starring alongisde father, Lloyd. But he has also made appearances in "Mona Lisa Smile," and "Frequency" and will be in three upcoming independent films set for 2012 releases: Five Hours South, A Holiday Engagement and Rush Light. He can also be seen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts and Judi Dench in an upcoming Clint Eastwood film, "J. Edgar."
His current role of Frankie Rizzoli, Jr. on TNT's Rizzoli & Isles, little brother to Jane Rizzoli. An appearance by his young daughter, Lola, will add a fourth generation to the Bridges family legacy.
Jordan Bridges is married to Caroline Eastman, an artist, author and inventor. They have two children, Orson and Lola.
