Jordin Sparks' Delivers on her Self-Titled Debut Album

Jordin Sparks is best known from being the winner of American Idol: Season Six, beating Blake Lewis. Fresh off the American Idol Summer Tour, the 17-year-old is prepared to release her solo, self-titled debut album, Jordin Sparks. Will Jordin be able to capture the success of previous American Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson or will she just fade into obscurity like Taylor Hicks or Ruben Studdard?

The first single off of Jordin Sparks is Tattoo produced by super producers StarGate. The song borrows heavily from previous StarGate productions like Beyonce's Irreplaceable. The song is a mid-tempo R&B track which has not been as successful as might have been expected from an American Idol winner.

On No Air, Jordin is joined by label mate R&B crooner Chris Brown. The song is a fairly solid R&B song. Both artists mesh very nicely and the concept of the song is good however the delivery is just lacking. The song just does not stand out and is not memorable.

Permanent Monday is more rock infused than most of the other tracks on the album. The song is solid and puts Jordin in the realm of past American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. The song is good and one of the better tracks on the album.

One Step At A Time should have been the first single off the album. The song is much stronger than Tattoo and much more uplifting. The song is very catchy and one of the better tracks on the album.

Freeze is a much more dance inspired track. The song is fairly solid and catchy. Jordin showcases she can do more than just belt songs.

Now You Tell Me is another rock inspired pop song. The song is very solid and features one of Jordin's best vocal performances. The song definitely is very radio friendly and should be a single very soon.

The bonus track This Is My Now was the first song released by Jordin. The song was chosen from thousands of submissions and Jordin even sung it during the finale of American Idol Season Six. The song is very similar to past American Idol singles. The song showcases Jordin's vocal ability but not much else.

Jordin Sparks is a very solid album from an American Idol winner. The album has something for everyone. Jordin Sparks gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, make sure you pick up her debut album Jordin Sparks when it is in stores on November 20th.
