The tour is Sparks' first headlining tour. She is out in support of her Battlefield album, which is Sparks' followup to her self-titled debut platinum album.
The singer rose to fame after her 2007 American Idol win, which she won at the age of 17, making her the youngest winner in the history of the show.
The Royal Oak show was opened by pop singer Kate Voegele to the delight of the mostly teenage audience who know her from her role on the popular television show One Tree Hill.
Voegele played a couple of the songs that have been featured on the show, including the song "Lift Me Up".
Her performance of the classic "Hallelujah" song was a standout as well as the beautiful "Angel".
It didn't take long for Sparks' set to begin, which heavily featured songs of off her new album but hit on many of the crowd's older favorites as well.
The show opened with her band taking the stage, some dressed in armor, to the strains of the "Battlefield" song.
As soon as Sparks took the stage and launched into the song, the crowd erupted and continued to dance, jump and sing along throughout the rest of the set.
After "Battlefield", Sparks kept the energy flowing with new song "S.O.S.", which features a sample from the Shannon song "Let The Music Play".
Throughout the show, Sparks interacted with the audience, moving across the stage to take their hands and thanking everyone for coming out to see her and for helping her achieve her dream.
At one point, Sparks spoke about meeting one particular fan before the show who was going through a rough time. They requested her song, "Faith", which features high notes and had not been performed live yet but Sparks decided to fulfill the request, urging the audience to remember that "things will get better!".
Set highlights included a energetic performance of "One Step At A Time" and "Young and In Love" and the playful "Watch You Go".
I was impressed with the backup band who were given individual opportunities to shine throughout the evening.
Sparks closed out her show with performances of her two most popular songs, her first single "Tattoo" and the Chris Brown duet "No Air".
