These images led to a judge ordering Josh Powell to get a psycho-sexual evaluation at the last custody hearing. From there Powell took a hatchet to his boys and exploded his house. The case worker, Elizabeth Griffin-Hall, who was locked out of the house by Josh Powell, said she heard Powell say to his boys, "I've got a big surprise for you." Griffin-Hall also remembers hearing the youngest boy crying.

Powell told them he was suspected of murder, but Wadagnolo took a chance on Powell because he was a great programmer.
