Josie Duggar Goes Home

It's a Happy Easter for the Duggar Family as They Bring Their 19th Child Home

Susan Braun
Josie Duggar, due in March but born in December at just 25 weeks gestation, finally left the hospital and went home with her family on April 6. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were "so happy" to bring baby Josie home after her long hospital stay.

Josie's doctor at Arkansas Children's Hospital, Robert Arrington, commented that he would miss Josie and her family. He also remarked that April 6th marked Josie's first look at sunshine. The four youngest Duggars besides Josie - Jackson, 5; Johanna, 4; Jennifer, 2; and Jordyn, 15 months - had never yet seen their baby sister.

At almost 4 months old, Josie now weighs 4 pounds, 9 ounces - tiny to be sure, but much larger than the 1 pound, 6 ounces she weighed upon arrival December 10. She is off oxygen and eats every three hours.

While Josie is now with her family, the Duggars aren't yet "home" in their huge Tontitown, Arkansas house. They're continuing to stay in the Little Rock rental home that viewers of their popular show, 19 Kids and Counting, have become familiar with in recent months. This is so Josie can be near the Arkansas Children's Hospital as she continues to grow.

The Duggars' cousin Amy, a frequent guest on 19 Kids and Counting, posted on her Facebook page, "Welcome home baby Josie! Praise the Lord!"

Parents Jim Bob and Michelle are always sure to emphasize their gratitude to fans for their prayers and good wishes: "We're grateful for the prayers of thousands."

Good for them! Please excuse me if I'm not around a lot lately - I'm having a series of bad disk flare ups in my back, and must sit at computer only to do whatever articles I can, so can't spend a lot of time doing comments.

I'm glad she's going home! Will there be any long term effects from the low birth weight?

I'm glad to hear Josie gets to leave the hospital. How stressful that must have been for the parents!
