IDW Publishing in conjunction with Joss Whedon has announced that they will be releasing the debut issue of Angel: After The Fall, the official continuation of the hit TV series. The 'maxiseries' as they are calling it will be overseen by Angel co-creator Joss Whedon who will be working with a hand-picked creative team and will will co-plot the entire story with series scripter Brian Lynch IDW says that artwork for the comic series will be handled by Franco Urro, Lynch's collaborator on IDW's Spike: Shadow Puppets limited series which will also be spinning out of Season Five of the TV show.

When TV viewers last saw Joss Whedon's vampire-turned-savior Angel, he and a very stalwart group of friends were charging forward into a heart-stopping, series-ending cliffhanger facing off against endless demon hordes. A cliffhanger that left many loyal fans asking the burning questions of who lived, who died and what happened to Los Angeles in the aftermath of the epic battle? The new comic maxiseries will be answering those questions in a year long published saga that will be released on a monthly issue basis.

"Angel and his friends took a stand because he thought it was the right thing to do," Brian Lynch tells the media on the decision to create this comic series that will deal with the aftermath of series finale. "They fought the good fight, even though they were probably going to lose, even though they were facing insurmountable odds. But that's the thing about insurmountable odds: surmounting them can be quite a bitch. The series begins to tackle the fallout of Angel's stand, and what it cost everyone near, around and close to him."

Chris Rydall, IDW's Publisher and Editor-in-Chief is really excited about this series which will begin hitting comic book store shelves in early November and is available for pre-order now, with Diamond Order Code SEP07 3739. "This is the story we've wanted to tell since we first started publishing Angel comics three years ago. More to the point, it's a story fans have been dying to see, and neither they nor I ever wanted to tell this tale without Joss. So it's great to have his participation, as well as the great work by Brian and Franco, to properly deliver this epic saga."

Fans can also look forward to Acclaimed artist Tony Harris, who has worked on Starman and Ex Machina, providing special alternate covers for the debut issues, along with monthly covers by Urru, Andrew Robinson, and others yet to be announced.
