Journal of a Fat Man- Update 3-05-2010 DNA Testing

My Journey Back from Obesity

Charles Johnson
Ok well I have officially plateaued. It has been two weeks since my last update, and I am now down to 269 lbs. Which is a weight loss of 1 lb in two weeks. It has been a few weeks now that I have been averaging approximately a half pound a week weight loss. It is sad, and challenging to keep a positive attitude. I seem to have plateaued while I am still obese. I know we all do it in our journeys, but didn't expect it to come while I am still huge. I know we all have challenges with the plateau effect. It doesn't matter if we have a few pounds to go, or a ton of weight to lose like me. I have even seen it happen many times on The Biggest Loser. The people eat right, exercise constantly, and only lose a pound that week, and sometime it happens for a few weeks, even when they have all the focus, all the help, and personal trainers. So if it happens to them I shouldn't be discouraged when I am struggling.

I have been struggling with the difference I keep finding in information on diets. I have found some articles that want you to eat crazy diets, cut calories to nothing, or just eat once a day. Then I read articles, and diets that want you to eat several meals a day. So who is right? And how are we to know what is right for us. Well I have found something that may help me in the future.

I recently became an Amway Global Independent Business Owner (IBO). I am happy with the income potential of my new business. But what I found is tons of health and fitness information at my disposal. One of the partner stores to Amway Global even does DNA testing and compiles person reports based on an individuals DNA to help them with what diets, eating and exercise is best for them based on their personal DNA. We all have battled to lose weight one diet after another and many of us are still overweight. It would be nice to know exactly what works best for our individual body. So we could simply change our eating habits, and exercise based on what is best for our bodies, based on our DNA. It is around $150 for the test. The partner store Inherent Health actually has four different tests it can do for you on the website, and give your different DNA test reports to help you with other health concerns, not just weight loss. I just think this is an amazing ideal. And will be doing a DNA test to help me with my weight loss in the future.

I am also going to try to increase the amount of times a day I eat because I have read when you are dieting, and cut down on your eating( which I have been doing) your body reacts like you are starving, and stores fat, and slows your metabolism. I am concerned with the ideal of eating many small meals throughout the day, because I know if I am faced with choosing food several times a day I am going to eat to many calories. So I am going to replace some meals, and snacks with Nutrilite food bars. They are 200 calories or less, and have 22 essential vitamins and minerals. I really love the taste of the cherry almond bars myself. I am also trying the Nutrilite sport twist tubes. I have been struggling with eliminating my sodas, because I really get tired of the taste of water. I can put one twist tube in a bottle of water, and then have a great tasting sports drink without all the calories and sugar. So hopefully it will help me to final eliminate the sodas that have kept my body captive forever. Now hopefully this will help boost my weight loss. I realize that even a half pound weight loss in a week is still a weight loss.

I am so grateful to all of you for all the support and comments. I hope you aren't getting bored of my slow journey. I am glad you are there to allow me to have some means to hold myself accountable to someone for my weight loss. It truly helps knowing I am going to report to this journal of a fat man. It helps keep me focused, and you keep me encouraged that even though the battle is seeming alittle up hill right now I will make it. I have to make it. I have to lose weight. I have been a prisoner to my obesity, and the health problems it causes for to many years now. If I don't change where I have been heading in the past I know it will be a short journey to the end of my life because of bad health. I have 5 daughters, and 5 grandkids who love me, and I want to be here for years to come to watch them grow. So that is why this Fat man is on a journey back from obesity.

If any of you would like to try the products mentioned or are just want to check out my website in general, or the DNA testing of the partner store Inherent health you can go to www.amwayglobal.com/charlesjohnson

Once again Thank you all so very much for accompanying me on my journey back from obesity. May God bless all your efforts, goals and dreams. Hugz CJ
