Joyce Meyer's Start Your New Life Today: An Exciting New Beginning with God Book Review

Joyce Meyer's book "Start Your New Life Today" is a book about hope, inspiration and starting over. I was first introduced to Joyce Meyer when I was flipping through the TV channels and came across one of her church sermons. It was a humorous lesson in how to stop focusing on one's self but rather give yourself to others and in return you would gain blessings. I began watching her daily for 30 minutes and later checked her out on the web.

One day I came across her book and flipped through the pages reading parts here and there. The book contains a small paragraph that is highlighted to conclude the chapter's lesson. There are 88 chapters and each chapter consists of around 1-4 pages on average. The book is for those who want to learn how to accept Christ in their lives. If you do not believe in God or want to become a Christian, this isn't the book for you and wouldn't recommend it. But if you are interested in accepting Christ, this book covers everything from starting new, to trust the truth rather than relying always on one's emotions. Don't know how to listen to God; she talks about how to hear him. Joyce Meyer teaches the reader how to transform the mind on our thought process and how to learn to have patience in life.

Not only does this book teach lessons from the bible by including bible verses and including personal examples, it shows the reader how to control our emotions and learn how negative thinking can steal away our energy. And also about following the same principles that God shows in the bible. Reading this book will help give many readers an exciting sense of hope and at the same time teach us or remind us of lessons and holding on to our faith especially in today's hard economical times.

One lesson that spoke to me was in chapter 33 "Suspicious of Suspicion". In this chapter Joyce explains not to always be suspicious of someone for doing good deeds for you or for others. She explains that not everyone is doing something only to gain something in return. Of course she isn't suggesting trusting every person you meet but instead keep an open mind on a person's actions instead of always assuming the worst of someone.

I would recommend checking out her website where she has radio and videos of her teachings available anytime of the day. There's a section to send a prayer request and question and answer with answers from the bible. I paid $9.97 at the time at Wal*Mart but you can also check out your local library's copy of the book for free. I would recommend this book as an inspiring read only as the reader should decide for themselves how they personally feel about religion.
