Judge Gives Foxy Brown One More Chance

Foxy Brown has been allowed to remain free after she pleaded guilty to violating her probation by leaving New York without permission. She was warned by a judge that her next probation offense would be her last.

Brown was arrested during a fracas at a beauty supply store in Pembroke Pines, Florida, on Feb.15. She was charged with resisting an officer and simple battery.

The beauty store owner told CBS4's Shamari Stone that glue was thrown at him and began to show remnants of it remaining on the floor.

In another interview, Foxy Brown's brother had said that all she wanted to do was use the bathroom.

The Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson was urged by Lawyers for the Department of Probation to jail the 27-year-old rapper.

Brown was sentenced to three years probation and anger management classes after a fight with manicurists over payment at a nail salon in Manhattan's Chelsea area in 2004.

Judge Melissa Jackson gave Foxy Brown another chance though. She told Brown that she had to have a counseling session at least once a week for the next year.

Jackson told Brown, "I'm reserving the right to resentence you to jail for a year. You have the key, but that key will be taken away from you in a flash."

"I'm going to give her basically what is a third chance," the judge had said. "I'm going to give her one more chance-three strikes you're out. Basically, I'll be giving the keys to the jailhouse to Ms. Marchand." Foxy Brown's legal name is Inga Marchand.

Brown smiled broadly and spoke animatedly outside the court house about the judge's decision.

"I believe Judge Jackson believes I'm trying to work hard, Brown said, "She seems to be saying ' I'm pulling for you, kiddo.' She's seeing the maturity in me and she believes in me. I'm at the rebuilding stage as a person."

Foxy Brown is known for her sexy outfits and racy lyrics. Her albums include " Na Na" and " Chyna Doll, is no stranger to the law. She has been into several heated arguments with numerous people when it seems she don't get her way.

In January of 1997, Foxy Brown received a 30-day suspended sentence and 80 hours community service when she turned herself in on an arrest warrant for missing a court appearance for spitting on two hotel workers in Raleigh, North Carolina. She apparently spit on them when they told her that they did not have an iron available.

In July 2003, Foxy Brown was arrested in Kingston, Jamaica for an altercation with a policewoman at Norman Manley International Airport. When she missed a court appearance two days later, Jamaican authorities announced that Brown would be arrested if she returned to the island.
