Judge Halts Paula Tagg Sex Revelations Over Colin Montgomerie Affair

What is it with Golfers and Sex Scandals?

Sylvia Cochran
If Tiger Woods has not clued in the public to the fact that golf can be a hotbed for sex scandals, Paula Tagg could have convinced you. Of course, since Colin Montgomerie succeeded in having a court gag her, affair rumors go underground and thrive.

Colin Montgomerie, Paula Tagg and the British Court

Colin Montgomerie is a Scottish golf legend. Depending on your affinity for the game of golf and ability to disregard points-driven world rankings, it might be fair to say that Montgomerie is the Tiger Woods of the European Tour. This comparison has proved to be a bit too apropos when former girlfriend Paula Tagg threatened to release intimate details about her relationship with Montgomerie.

Unlike Woods, who went into hiding as the worst of his sex scandal broke, the Scottish golfer involved the law. Golf reports that he managed to get British courts to issue an injunction that prevents Tagg from publicly airing dirty laundry, especially anything having to do with the bed sheets.

While the Scottish athlete may have prevented a Woods-esque display of private parts, one cannot help but wonder just why he required Paula Tagg to be silenced with respect to "any such information recorded in the form of a photograph or still image or moving images."

Remember Tiger Woods and Jaimee Grubbs?

Back in 2009, when it came to light that Jaimee Grubbs kept Tiger Woods' text messages, there was no talk of an injunction. Rather than wondering if there would be legal ramifications to the (then) latest Woods mistress revealing details of her illicit affair with the golf legend, the American public wondered who would be the highest bidder that would pay for -- and then display -- the verbiage of the onscreen conversations.

No Sex Scandal to Rock European Tour?

To be fair, the Colin Montgomerie affair with Paula Tagg occurred in 2006, when the golfing legend was duly divorced and not yet engaged to be married to his current wife. Thus, while Tiger Woods was operating from a position of weakness, Montgomerie is coming from a position of strength.

Nudie Pics, Sex Tapes and Text Messages: Do Athletes Have the Common Sense God Gave a Gnat?

It is somewhat worrisome that even sports' heaviest hitters lack the common sense to not have their amorous activities captured on film and preserved for posterity. As professional athletes in the public eye, would it not make sense that jilted or simply discarded lovers will eventually turn the material into the sport's next sex scandal and personal payday?

Just ask Greg Oden, who photographed his privates and sent them on to his special lady - only to have them appear everywhere on the World Wide Web. Maybe it's a good thing that a judge put the kibosh on having Paula Tagg transmit action shots or movies of her Colin Montgomerie affair.

monty is a true 'pro' in every sense of the word and what he did whilst divorced is no one else's business and no way is his record anything as good as Tiger - although looks like Tiger's current form could dip to Mont'y standards.
