Judge Wapner Root Beer is Guilty of Good Taste
The root beer features the image of Judge Joseph Wapner on the label.
Wapner was the first judge to feature courtroom cases on television on the original "People's Court" show which debut in 1981 and ran until 1993.
Wapner turned 90 in November and was honored with a
star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
Months before he turned 90, his cousin, Robert Powell created a root beer and named it after the famous judge.
The label features a picture of the judge pointing toward the customer, saying "I sentence you to drink my root beer."
The root beer to me tastes like most root beer. I didn't really sense any differentiating traits.
It smells like root beer, fizzes like root beer and tastes like root beer.
I gave a bottle to a coworker of mine for the office Christmas exchange.
He reported back a few days later that the bottle has been quite the conversation piece.
The drink contains 190 calories 40 grams of sugar.
It is made with the usual ingredients including cane sugar.
According to a story published on www.metnews.com,
the drink was launched on June 13 and at last check the soda is being carried by at least 24 markets in California.
I found my bottle at Pops see story located in Arcadia, Oklahoma.
The drink can also be ordered online.
All in all the root beer is good, but the conversation that the label will strike up is probably better.
So my advice is put your current root beer on probation and book a bottle of Judge Wapner Root Beer into your refrigerator.
You might just sentence your old root beer to life in the store instead of coming home with you.
But there is always visitation.

How funny. Where do you find all these unusual sodas? If I ever find it, I'll check it out. I'm not a pop lover, but cream soda and root beer would be my favorites.
