Judgement

Jill Davidson
You say you are a Christian
Yet you drink and smoke and swear?
You wear jeans and sandals into church!
You have long stringy hair!
The people you hang out with
Are not the sort we seek.
You've been arrested many times;
Your addictions make you weak.
And you have no money
For the offering plate as well.
The lifestyle you are living
Will send you straight to hell.

Be careful, brother Christians
Of the message you are sending;
It's just this sort of judgement
That keeps people from attending.
(In all the pictures that I've seen
Jesus has long hair.
And by the way, I've noticed
That His feet were often bare.)

Welcome all who enter in
With grace and peace and love.
We won't be judged by fellow man
But by God above.
We're all precious in His sight;
Each and every one
Is welcomed into open arms
Through Jesus Christ, His Son.
