Judgment Day

A.M. Morgan
The trumpets have sounded and there is complete uneasiness in the air. There is no need to wonder what year it is for many are already surrounding the throne hoping to be pardoned for past transgressions. Friends have begun to disassociate from one another openly telling each other's deepest and darkest secrets. There are more witnesses to the truth than ever before with an outstanding outpour waiting for the opening of heaven's door. One by one mortal men and women approach God with confidence that is quickly overshadowed by their own eyes of guilt once the story of their life with even the cruelest of their intentions is revealed. Tears of joy and pain soak the pavement as human nature shows that it is both beautiful and tainted. There are many familiar faces throughout the crowd families, acquaintances and enemies become unexpectedly reacquainted. Apologizes travel from voices throughout the crowd in an effort to settle differences. This is the day of judgment and there is no where to run or hide for our creator is watching.

Some are too afraid to speak and write words on small sheets that are placed inside a box of offenses. The following is some of the offenses that are read by Angels of God:

The first Angel reads the first offense: "Lord I walked alone in darkness and turned my back on people who needed me because I did not want them to succeed. I called them every name but a child of you and then I would be a hypocrite and proclaim loudly that I am a servant of you."

The second Angel reads the second offense: "Lord I engaged in casual sex without meeting the other person's mind or connecting with their soul. When it was over I walked away leaving the person stripped of the special gift that bonds two people on their wedding day."

The third Angel reads the third offense: "Lord I sat around in clouded rooms full of drugs, alcohol, sloth and greed because I wanted to be associated with what was in and to find out if happiness could ever become my friend."

The fourth Angel reads the fourth offense: "Lord I said countless times I was sorry for my sins but I would repent and commit them again."

After the fourth offense is read the Angels turn to God patiently awaiting him to speak. I stand quietly and try to hide my face hoping no one looks my way. I see a book with my name on it as it is opened I cry tears of shame.

Suddenly the sound of the trumpets stop and I awaken only to realize it was just a dream but I begin to pray for understanding of it's deeper meaning.

I fall down to my knees in a nervous shake with sweat dripping off my face.

I begin to pray these words:

"Dear Heavenly Father,

I am because of you and I pray for wisdom and guidance to a have closer genuine relationship with you. I am guilty of backsliding and self righteousness. I have been regrettably a part time Christian in casting stones as if I was without sin. Prepare me for your day of judgment so that through your Amazing Grace I can see all that I lack in my spiritual walk."

Well this definitely makes one stop and think. Why should we wait until that final day to try to make things right? By then it may be too late. A great message to put out into the universe. Well done!

Well, I have not been guilty of the second sin because nobody woulda had me! But the others, yes. I don't know, A.M, you are like a 23-year-old with the wisdom of a 73-year-old. -- Mike
