This mother confessed to killing her kids because "they were mouthy and rude." A mother killing her two children by shooting them in the head has left the nation stunned, especially after hearing reports on how normal a family they were.

Julie Schenecker and the Schenecker family were a normal family living in an upscale neighborhood in Tampa Bay, Florida. The teenagers, ages 13 and 16, were both star athletes and honor students, according to ABC News. What could have gone so wrong for their once "loving mother" to shoot them in the head?

Julie Schenecker's mother called police because she was worried about her daughter, who was depressed and sent her an email saying just how low she was feeling. Her mother lived in Texas and Julie Schenecker did not answer the phone when she tried to reach her. It was a day too late, by the time police were called Beau, 13 and Calyx, 16 had already been dead for a day.

Schenecker shot her son twice in the head as she drove him to soccer practice. She turned the car around and went home. Leaving her dead son's body in her car in the garage, she went inside where she found her daughter.

Schenecker's 16 year old daughter was doing her homework on the computer. Schenecker shot her once from close range in the back of her head. Schenecker left the children in the spots where she had shot them dead for a day as she stayed at home, calling no one or answering the phone to no one.

Schenecker's husband, Army Col. Parker Schenecker was stationed in the Middle East. This is where he learned what had happened at home. Once getting this horrific news that his wife shot his children he started his journey home.

Schenecker was refused bail when she appeared in court. She could be seen being led into the courtroom as she was visibly shaking. Once inside the courtroom she could be heard sobbing. It will be a hard sell for Schenecker to get off on an insanity plea, too much went into planning these deaths to constitute this type of plea. It can be shown that she planned to kill her children, from purchasing a gun, right down to a note she left.

It was a suicide note that Schenecker left, it was her intention to kill her two children and then herself, but the reason she did not kill herself is still unknown. The note explained all this according to ABC News.

Julie Schenecker was in the hospital with an undisclosed medical condition, one that she had before killing her children, but was released on Sunday and went back to the jail. There is no word if her husband will be joining her at her next court appearance this afternoon.
