July 4th Memories: Corn and Sparklers

Julie Wimmer

Corn on the cob with a dab of butter,

there really is no other,

on that special day of the year

when we celebrate with so much cheer.

I remember warm days of fun;

and singing and dancing in the sun,

while we twirled with our sparklers and toys -

most of us chasing all of the boys.

The best part was always the dark of night

when it was time sit on a blanket just right,

while the fireworks burst through the sky,

most of us chomping on candy and pie.

July 4th memories are always welcome

whenever I think back to some fun,

and now, these days, with my own kids in tow,

all of us, together, enjoy the thrill of the show.
