Finding the top 5 movies to watch for kids on July 4th was a very difficult task. Considering that most holiday movies for children revolve around Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. Finding movies that are age appropriate for children is also somewhat difficult. I did however come across a few cartoon series that was turned into a DVD, that are all time favorites for children to watch, and also Freedom Writers, not necessarily associated with July 4th, but none the less a great movie about becoming free.

This is America, Charlie Brown Collection is an excellent choice for young children to become familiar with America's History. This series includes, The Mayflower Voyagers, The Birth of The Constitution, The Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk, The NASA Space Station, The Building of the Transcontinental Railroad, The Great Inventors, The Smithsonian and the Presidency, and The Music and Heroes of America. National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage, takes its viewers on a ride into the past. As Nicolas Cage's character searches for clues to historical treasure, history comes alive in his quest. In search of a treasure that was hidden by Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, Cage and his followers steal the Declaration of Independence in hopes that there is a code on the back that will map the way to the treasure. This is a definite edge of your seat film, where you as the viewer can't wait to find the next clue, in hopes of catching a glimpse of the past. A sequel called National Treasure: A Book of Secrets would be a great movie to add to your night. Taking you on a tour through the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Both movies are a must see. Purchase them on Blu Ray and DVD from any movie dealer for about $15 to $20 each.

Freedom Writers, although not meant for young children, but can be viewed by young adolescents, is an excellent choice of for a movie attributing to the word Freedom. This movie inspires it's viewers to view the world not as a weight pushing you down, but as an open field for all to roam free and find their voice in life. HIllary Swank, plays an awesome teacher, who focuses her life on educating her class on writing. She fights her way through the school administration to accomplish her goal, and comes out strong. Not only do the students become to accept her in their life, but Hilary Swank sets them free. Free to achieve any success that her students dreamed of.
