Jumble of Truth: A Poem

Scott Bauer
Along the roadside

One may find

Marvelous things if taken the time

The dew, the grass, the welcoming woods

A squirrel, a dog, and a tender fawn

A broken tree and broken bush

A travelers map and maybe his shoes

Search still further, look hard indeed

Discover wild berries and nuts galore

Chipmunks with enormous cheeks

Snakes, frogs, and lily pads

Deer, boars, wildlife to adore

If you only go off the road a bit more

Streams unseen for a hundred years

Lakes unfished and trees unclimbed

All of these are dreams of mine

Searching among the forest of life

To find an untouched glade and tree
