The Junction Grill is a little off the beaten path, located at 103 W. HWY 215 in Pleasant Hope. It is well worth the drive if you are looking for a great burger. I can't comment on their other food because no matter how hard I try, I can never make myself order anything but the burger.
A burger comes with the standard bag of chips. But, I always forego the chips, replacing them with the fried okra. There is no way, I could eat it all, but the combination is delicious. The burger alone is more meal than I can eat.
The burger is large, topped with fresh veggies and your choice of cheese. You can count on the okra to be fried to crispy perfection and taste fresh.
Like many country cafes, you will find a variety of condiments on the table along with a roll of paper towels. If you don't see what you need, a server will be quick to get it for you.
The service at The Junction Grill is fast and friendly. The clientele is generally, 'the locals'. You will find tables full of customers all conversing table to table. There is both a 'smoking' and 'non-smoking' section. In the smoking section, one wall is covered with 8x10 photo's of regular customers, while another has a large bulletin board full of flyers of the local goings on. Throughout the restaurant, happy children are shuttled, among relatives and neighbors. Tired farmers seek respite with a cold glass of tea or a hot cup of coffee and a hearty meal. All this gives way to a lively atmosphere.
Employee's help each other. Something not often found in a restaurant. This behavior results in a clean, happy environment. I have never heard employees grumbling and complaining in the background.
Just because I have not managed to order, more from the menu does not mean I have not noticed that they have a full menu, including specials of the day written on the grease board, all at more than affordable prices. Two people can have a large lunch, including a drink for around $10.00 or less.
The Junction Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, except Sundays when they close after the lunch hour.
The Junction Grill is about twenty miles north of Springfield. If you find yourself north of the city, consider dropping by our little town for a great burger. Or make a special trip. You won't be disappointed.

Post a CommentGreat review...sounds yummy!
I love little independent restaurants like this! Unfortunately, in our area they're being overtaken by the big chain restaurants. Not a good trade off. Thanks for an interesting review. :-)
You should try the burger with cream cheese on it. YUM!!
oh yum...I wish I lived over there now...sigh...great review!
I find if the 'locals' hang out there to eat the food and prices are usually A-OK!!! Great review. :)
