June 29th is a special holiday. In fact, every day's a holiday for someone and for some reason.
Although we may not know the origins of many of these holidays, avid celebrants will participate eagerly in marking June 29th as a most special day for so many different reasons.
Here are several of the most popular holidays celebrated on June 29th (arranged alphabetically):
Shutterbugs, start your engines! June 29th is Camera Day. Traditional or digital, video or still, cameras are on the docket for the day.

Who holds the power in your home? June 29th is the day to find out. It's Remote Control Day.
Poet William Ross Wallace (1819 - 1881) said, "The hand that rocks the cradle, is the hand that rules the world." In modern times, we beg to differ. Actually, in most homes, the hand that holds the television remote control seems to wield the ultimate power.
Who determines the family's TV viewing habits? Who decides when to shut the box off? Ever since the arrival of the television remote control, the issue is clear. Of course, this handy invention may have spawned a whole generation of Passive-Aggressors; The Timid Intimidators.
Celebrate Remote Control Day on June 29th with a universally good time by picking up new batteries for all of the remote controls in your home. Don't forget those fun RC cars and toys too!
Sometimes, too much information can be a bad thing. June 29th is Spare Us the Details Day, which is dedicated to preventing over-sharing.
This occasion is rooted in Hollywood tragedy. On June 29, 1967,American actress Jayne Mansfield was killed in an automobile accident, as the 1966 Buick Electra slid underneath a truck. Her three young children (Mickey Jr., Zoltan and Mariska) and four chihuahuas were sleeping in the back seat of the vehicle at the time. Seeking to protect the public from the gory details, Hollywood publicists insisted that Mansfield lost her wig, rather than her head, in the incident.
Incidentally, Mansfield's daughter Mariska Hargitay currently stars in the television series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
On June 29th, discretion reigns supreme. Spare Us the Details Day reminds folks to exercise discretion and tact.
Right in the middle of the political campaign season, June 29th is Waffle Iron Day. No waffling about this wonderful food holiday, which promises to fill homes with a pleasant aroma.
Since the 14th Century, families have enjoyed waffles together. The earliest waffles were actually flat cakes, baked between two flat plates. The textured waffle pans probably came along much later. However, legend has it that bronze grid-like pans have been unearthed in France, which may have been the first waffle irons.
Plug in that waffle iron, and enjoy your favorite flavor of this wonderful brunch treat. Add banana wheels, blueberries, peaches, raspberries, strawberries and other fresh fruit for a summertime treat.
The old breakfast adage is true: once you try fresh waffles, you will never look at frozen toaster waffles the same way again.
