A Summer Escape Weekend should be something you do not usually do and certainly something you are not going to do on your summer vacation. In June, school is coming to an end, college is out and the whole family is ready to escape from the stay at home time of winter and do something different and unique and June in New York is the perfect time for the first summer escape weekend of the year. That is what these June summer weekend escape ideas in New York State have to offer. A chance to see parts of New York that may be new to you, to come out and meet new people, see new places and try new things. So, instead of sitting around wishing you could do something different, make plans for your first summer weekend escape this June. There is still a lot more summer coming, but June is the time to start.

If you want to get a look at New York State and the products that are New York made, then the perfect summer weekend escape is The Great New York State Wine and Food Festival June 22 - 24, 2007. There will be food and drink products from all over the state for you to sample, candy and cheeses, nuts, sauces, herbs & spices, maple syrup and other maple products, apple cider, cookies and ice cream and of course, New York State wines. The event is in one of New York's wine producing regions, the beautiful Thousand Island area, right by the Canadian Border in the Village of Clayton.

You don't have to be Polish to come to the annual Polish Festival in Syracuse New York on June 8, 9, & 10, 2007 at Clinton Square. All you need is a love of good food and good music and be willing to have a good time. New Yorkers love to share in all the different ethnic celebrations in the State and invite the rest of the county and the world to come and join in. There will be plenty of food and arts and crafts vendors with unique items that you will not find anywhere else.

If your idea of a summer weekend escape is a weekend of music, then take a look at the Old Songs Festival June 22, 23 & 24, 2007 at the Altamont Fairgrounds, Altamont, New York. You will have a weekend full of folk, traditional, Celtic and world music and dance. There will be plenty of food and drink, music workshops, a crafts show and a special kids activity area. In addition to the local lodging, there is on site camping for tents, campers and RV, but it is first come first served, so get yours early. Come prepared to have a good old relaxed country weekend.
