Jungle Habitat Match
Put several plastic jungle animals in a container (such as a shallow plastic under bed storage tub) that you can create a mini jungle habitat in with a pool of water, dirt, and fake plants. Let students place the animals in the correct habitat. Some animals you may want to include are: frogs, gorillas, monkeys, snakes, parrots, toucans, caimans, turtles, and jaguars.
Binoculars
Let students decorate two toilet paper tubes that have been attached together. Poke two holes at one end to thread a ribbon through for a neck strap. Tape up several pictures of jungle animas around the room for students to "find" in their binoculars.
Safari Map
Use the inside of a brown grocery bag as a safari map. Show students a few samples of maps and let them draw their own. As you learn about different jungle animals and plants, give the students a sticker with that animal or plant to attach to their maps. Stickers can be made by printing images onto blank address labels if stickers can't be found.
Rain Sticks
Pre poke holes in a wrapping paper or paper towel tube. Help students put small sticks through the holes and keep them in place with glue or masking tape. Let students decorate their sticks with paint, stickers, and/or markers. When they are finished tape one end of the stick closed, add a handful of rice, and tape the other end closed, too. Show students how to make rain sounds by turning the rain stick over.
