Junior Girl Scouts: Be a Model Citizen and Earn Your Badge

Are you someone who always strives to be the best person he or she can be? Are you interested in earning the Model Citizen badge as a Junior Girl Scout? You will learn how to be outstanding while working on getting the Model Citizen badge.

According to your guidelines, the things you are supposed to do to earn this honor include being a good neighbor; focusing on your rights and responsibilities; being a global citizen; acting as a lawmaker; forming a government; going to places; learning how to legally and peacefully protest in the United States; representing the American flag; helping out with projects; and helping your family maintain documents on their identification. We will now discuss ideas you can use to be exemplary in the community while earning your badge.

First: Do not let your block merely consist of houses with people occupying them. You can do your part to help bring the community together by making an attempt to meet all of your neighbors.

Second: You should not be content to just meet your neighbors. Once you get to know them, you should be good to them and take an interest in them.

Third: Being a model citizen requires you to do the right thing. It is your obligation to obey all of the laws and rules; however, rules can sometimes be bent. Use good judgment when declining to conform.

Fourth: It is important to be politically active. You should do things such as working on petitions; writing to your government officials; encouraging people of legal age to register to vote; and urging registered voters to vote on essential issues and races.

Fifth: You should be a Good Samaritan. This is a person who stops what he or she is doing to help someone in immediate need or danger.

Sixth: You will have an easier time being a model citizen by working at being a role model. You need to make an attempt to persuade others to make good choices based on the ones you personally make.

Seventh: It is helpful to do your part in making things happen and making a difference. You can accomplish this by volunteering your time and perhaps donating some of your money to assist charities.

Eighth: One thing you need to do to be successful is be morally upright. It is vital to be nice to everyone.

Ninth: You have to think about the entire world. You can help make a global impact by respecting others' heritages and talking with those who come from other countries to see what life is like elsewhere.

Tenth: It is necessary to have a government-like role. If your school has a student government, consider joining.
