Junk Hero

Ellen F.
Kevin is at the bar. Not drinking, oh no, he's not a drinker. He's a super hero. That's right, I said super hero. Kevin is at the bar, watching. He's watching the man he's about to take down. He followed this man into the bar; this man has a bomb strapped to his chest. And Kevin is going to take him down. Why this man is going to try to blow up the bar? Well I just don't know, but does it really matter? We're here for Kevin.
Kevin sits at a table by himself, watching this man drink; Kevin waits for an opening and just as he gets up and starts to walk over to the man... Kaboom.

The whole bar is gone, along with everyone in it. Why didn't Kevin just scream and tell everyone to get out of the bar because there is an insane man with a freaking bomb strapped to his chest?
Kevin is a super hero. A Terrible, terrible super hero.

Now, let's give you some information about Kevin, some knowledge.
Kevin, lives in New Mexico, but he was born in Wisconsin. He was born and raised in Wisconsin. Kevin loves cheese. How he got to New Mexico, I'm not sure; I'll try to hunt that information down for you. Now, Kevin is a super hero, and has super powers, so let's throw those down for you right now, get them out of the way.

Kevin can fly; he can fly like an eagle. He can hear everything, like whispers from across the room, yeah, he hears you. That's probably the best of his powers. No secrets get by him with that power. And he is very strong, because all super heroes are strong.
Kevin discovered his super powers at a very young age, around six. Yes, six is about the time he started to fly like an eagle.

His mother saw it as unnatural, saw it as wrong, and beat him bloody if ever tried to fly in front of her. And his father didn't even seem to notice, he was often too drunk to notice anything. Probably the reason Kevin is not a drinker. Never has been, never will be. Thanks dad.
So Kevin hid his powers from the world, from the eyes of everyone around him, from the angry, from the judgmental, from the needy.

And his life seemed to go pretty good with that. Everyone thought he was normal, they thought he was just like them. Being just like them, Kevin found himself a girl, and was in love with this girl. A beautiful girl. Her name was Julie, and she loved him too. She wanted to marry Kevin, but like a lot of men, he was afraid of commitment, just a little. So she agreed to wait until he was ready.

Then she died, of course. Julie died when she was pushed off a balcony of a seven story building. Kevin saw her, he saw her body slam into the sidewalk, like an anvil being thrown into the water, and her body seemed to keep going after it had hit the ground. It seemed to sink into the pavement. And Kevin could have saved her, he was half a block away, he could have easily flown up and saved her. But there was so many people, so many eyes. He choked, and she died.

Sometime after Julie's death Kevin decided he needed to use these powers and try to help those people like Julie. Unfortunately for them he really sucks at it. Maybe had he had some support from his mother, he would've learned, and could've helped, could've done well, could've gotten married, could've grown old with this girl that he loved. Instead of listening to all these people scream.
