Junk shops and other similar places contain a lot of previously used or recycled materials. These include sharp metals, uneven edged glasses, old machines, etc. You are never sure of your safety once you enter such place. There are a variety of rules and reminders to follow before going inside junk yards. Here are a few tips on how you could prevent injuries and untoward incidences while you're at it:

Foremost, you need to wear the appropriate gear before entering junk yards. The materials included here are designed to protect the bearer against different accidents that may occur along the way. The following are the basic things you need:

Head protection- this is made from hard materials that are sturdy enough to protect the head from untoward bumps and gentle to not cause irritations.

Goggles- junk yard contain harsh chemicals that may affect the eyes. Since the eyes are very vulnerable to foreign particles, it must be protected well. Make sure that you put on something that has UV protection so you'll save your self from heat sources such as welding and the like.

Gloves- don a pair of gloves before entering the junk yard so as to protect you from sharps and harsh chemicals. It is inevitable that you will pick up some materials for inspection and research. Hence, you need to take extra precaution. Protect your hands from broken glasses and rusty metals to avoid contamination and injuries.

Boots- the feet is equally important as the upper parts of the body. Therefore, you need to protect them as well. The most rampant activity you could do while inside the junk yard is to walk and stroll. Thus, there is great chance for you to step on something hazardous or get caught up in electrical wires and short circuits. Be sure that the boots you are to wear is made of steel and hard materials so ample protection could be grasped.

As you walk around the area, be vigilant with your surroundings. Make sure that there are no broken glasses along the way, no live wires or sharps dangling across your path. Just be sure that you have a clear way ahead.

Look for ongoing projects and activities during your visit. As much as possible, avoid such sites. For sure, there will be a lot of operating machines, stuff moving around and hazardous materials at the area. If you come too close to these working areas, you will be at risk to encounter danger and accidents.
