Junkyard Dog

James R. Ford
The vile pouring from your mouth only makes me smile
I've been through this before
beaten, shamed, for messing up your carpet
it's all the same, I'm only here for more

Your eyes are burning now with hatred
what did I do this time
realizing that nothing is so sacred
give me your worst
it's your turn to shine

these days I'm nothing more than a junkyard dog
don't come so close, I might just bite
I did everyone so wrong, how do I sleep
you're so perfect and I'm the little creep
dump one me, I won't say a peep
I'm used to this, been groomed for this
give me your worst, you gotta finish first

I'll lay here and take it
your insults bounce off my fur
you're right, I'm wrong again
hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks for recent comments. Comparing the subject to a growling hurt canine was an exercise of wordplay that I enjoyed writing. Glad y'all like it.

'I'm used to this, been groomed for this
give me your worst, you gotta finish first' (good line) Damn, I hope I don't act like this.
