Jupiter's transit to Moon Sign Aquarius

According to Vedic Hindu astrology, the transition of Lord Jupiter (Lord Guru) from 2nd padam of Dhanishta (Avitam) star, Moon sign Capricorn (Makara Rasi) to 3rd padam of Dhanishta (Avitam) star Moon sign Aquarius (Kumbh Rasi) takes place in the month of December 2009. The Hindu Vedic almanacs (Vakkiya Panchangams = as predicted by Sages and Preached by word of mouth) followed in Andhra Pradesh and other North Indian States mark the transition on December 16th, 2009. Drik Ganith almanacs (Thiru Ganitha Panchangams) mark the transition on December 19th, 2009. However Suddha Vaakiya Panjangam followed in Tamil Nadu and few other South Indian States mark the transition exactly at 11.59 P.M on December 15th, 2009 Tuesday. The difference in the computation of date and time of the transition is due to the system and methodology followed by various almanacs or panchangams. The temples and mutts, by and large, accept this date and time and have arranged homams (havens) and poojas.

Advance Traverse and Retrogression

Lord Jupiter will take twelve months in to pass through the Moon sign Aquarius (Rasi Kumbh) and its constellations (according to sidereal zodiac). While traversing through Aquarius sign Lord Jupiter takes a course and moves to moon sign Pisces on May 2nd, 2010. Vedic Hindu astrology terms this advance movement of Jupiter as 'Adhisaram.' The Adhisaram in Pisces will be for six months. There will be two Adhisarams and Vakra Gathis (retrogression) in Pisces sign itself. The advance traverse of Jupiter in Pisces sign will be up to November 3rd, 2010. After six months of advance traverse in Pisces, Jupiter reverses back (retrograde) to Aquarius sign on November 3rd, 2010.
