Jupiter/Uranus Conjunction January 2011 and Astrology Predictions

Astrological Affect of the Great Jupiter Uranus Conjunction

Carole Anne Somerville
In January 2011, Jupiter, planet of expansion will, for the third time in the past twelve months come close to Uranus, planet of freedom and change. This important astrological event occurs approximately once every thirteen years and the first two of these conjunctions occurred in June and then again in September 2010.

Jupiter inflates and improves on what already exists while Uranus shakes things up, breaks through restrictions and propel us in new directions. Together, these planets throw mankind into a new future. The impact can be for the good bringing great scientific breakthroughs but there's an unpredictability about Uranus that can also bring catastrophes that defy Jupiter's more beneficial influence.

A triple conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus often brings drastic global change. Like what? You might be wondering. Here are a few examples: During the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in 1927/28, the first transatlantic telephone call was made between New York City and London. There were earthquakes in Yugoslavia and China. An important scientific breakthrough occurred when Penicillin was discovered.

The world's first atomic power station was opened in Russia during the triple Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in 1954/55. An earthquake in Algeria left thousands homeless.

The third conjunction in this current cycle occurs at the time of the Solar Eclipse at the start of January. What might this signify for 2011? We might expect to see a mix of new technological and spiritual advances. The consequences of all advances, even those that might initially cause optimism and excitement, will always be unpredictable. This is what we will be re-learned during 2011 when a discovery that may seem to solve a problem will only end up creating a dozen more.

Science does not always get it right and this is a lesson we should all bear in mind as 2011 begins. There are ample examples from the past to remind us that scientists are human too and can be influenced by their own suppositions that are merely theories and conjectures. What is presented as evidence or facts can sometimes be debateable.

In the 19th century, for instance, scientists believed there was a network of gullies and ravines on the planet Mars. Detailed maps tracing their paths were drawn while a mathematician Percival Lowell came to the conclusion the canals were a highly sophisticated irrigation system developed by an unknown intelligent species. In time, it was discovered these canals were actually an optical illusion caused by streaks of dust blowing across the planet's surface.

During this current Jupiter/Uranus conjunction cycle, we could well see some exciting technical and medical advances. At the same time, what has been taken for granted will prove not always to be reliable. Disrupted communications might be expected; a satellite might vanish without trace while chaos could be the result of power supply systems failing.

Gene therapy could transform medicine. A stronger link will be acknowledged between weather and climate patterns and sun spot and astronomical activity. Expectations in some scientific fields will seem to be the reverse of original expectations.

Might it come as a big surprise when top scientists admit that in some areas they actually got it wrong or could it be that we are already coming to accept that even science can sometimes be ambiguous?
