Being the mother of five and one on the way, I often find or hear interesting things throughout my house. It's not that I think that we are a strange family; it's just that we are all stuck under this one roof together and things can get a little weird at times....
My youngest daughter, Gracie, who is two going on eleven, can be a bit of a smart butt, but I do believe that she gets it from her dad. Surely she gets it from her dad because I am the one who is often running around telling him to keep it down and quit stirring up the kids.
There is just something about my husband that gets the kids hyped up when he comes home from work. In fact, I believe that he is the biggest kid of them all.
Wow, I got a little off topic. Ok, back to the story.....
Gracie, the two year old smart butt, used to call me by my first name. It bothered me a little bit but I figured that it was because she heard her half-brothers calling me Rosa and picked up on it.
After I became a WHAM, Gracie started calling me momma once again and it made my heart melt. The only problem was that she was now calling her dad by Brent. My husband thought that it was funny when she was calling me Rosa but didn't really care too much for her calling him Brent.
After a heated discussion over why she was doing this, my husband proclaimed that I needed to stop calling him by first name. Huh? What the heck was I suppose to call him then?
So, I asked him what he wanted me to call him since Brent was apparently out of the question.
About that time he got a strange smile across his face, kind of like the one that Jim Carrey had in the movie Grinch and said," Just call me daddy."

Post a CommentKerry, I tried the time out thing with him and sent him to the room but later found that he did what most children would do; played on the computer and watched TV.
Hilarious. My kids all did that to both of us , for awhile. Your husband looks like mine Rosa, with that grin, he needs a time out l!
My son called my boyfriend (now hubby) by his first name except when his kids were also with us! We just let my son decide how to address him. After we were married, though, he started calling him daddy all the time! My stepkids always called me by my first name, which didn't really bother me. My oldest granddaughter called me by my first name for a while, then started using grandma. I don't really care what they call me, as long as they call me!
very nice article!!!!!!!!!!
Very funny Rosa. I love it. By the way my husband is also a big kid sometimes. Great job. My grandson's other Nani (grandma) says a lot of bad words, and so imagine when he come's home from a weekend at her house. We have practice all over again on how he needs to behave and talk!!!!
LOL....Nice article!
