Just Hand Over the American Idol Title to David Cook, Already!

Cook Will Shine in Next Few Weeks, Archuleta Will Finish Second

Chris Houston
David Cook has mesmerized fans with his unreal performances in the past several weeks. When everyone else seemed to struggle, Cook continued to shine. His consistency to be the best performer on a given night will help him earn the title of "American Idol" this season.

Only David Archuleta will be able to stop the freight train that is Cook at this moment in time. He has been a close second all season to whoever has been hot. But there's just something missing when it comes to originality, even though he sings quite perfectly.

What to expect for this coming week on "American Idol"?

The top 4 will channel their inner rock stars according to the official website Americanidol.com. One thing screams out at me. Syesha Mercado will most likely get weeded out from the mix. Look for her to struggle rocking. Her voice has been incredible the past few weeks after landing in the bottom two or three several times. But this could be her final week. Jason Castro has struggled but it's still a popularity contest right now and that means his smile will win viewers votes over at least one more week. If he struggles again this week, he could go home instead. He seems to have a way of finding the back door to staying alive in the competition despite being the lesser of the talented singers. I think given the category this week that he will survive one more week.

Then Cook and Archuleta will outperform Castro when it gets down to the following three. Cook has been incredible and it's hard to tell what the future will hold and what song choices will be made. One thing is absolutely for sure. Cook will be the best this week. There is no way anyone can outperform him in this category. It's like giving a professional baseball player a bat on "baseball night" and throwing three other fans in the mix.

His performances so far have been not only strong but very unique compared to his opponents. His ability to rearrange the composition of songs to make them fit into this era is just too much for even the great singer Archuleta to catch up with. Look for a dramatic final two where audiences are torn and there is no easy choice. I say that because David Archuleta hasn't really had any bad performances. He, too, hasn't had an off night. So putting the two up against one another will result in one amazing finale. That's what Americans wants to see!

And when the dust has cleared, Cook will take home the coveted title and Archuleta will finish second and find an amazing record deal is a very good consolation prize.

I actually thought America might prove me wrong tonight. Apparently not, too bad my DVR didn't catch the end! Does anyone know where to find it on line?

Although, I really think we will see David A. named American Idol. I do concur they are both very talented. I tend to agree with Joelle Rock's comment. Cook may be glad in the end to take second as he will have more freedom without the title.
Your statement " So putting the two up against one another will result in one amazing finale. That's what Americans wants to see!" is right on target. It will be a great show.

It's more like... hand it to David Archuleta!

I'm with you on this prediction. David A. is not a bad singer, but David Cook's got all the star quality! I'll be glad to see David C. win!

I hope you're right. I love David Cook! I was sorry to see Jason Castro go, but his "Mr. Tambourine Man" was pretty dull. Also, if you watch the tapes, he mouthed to his fans "Don't Vote" when they flashed his phone number on the screen-- so I knew he was ready to go. This week it will probably be buh-bye for Sayesha!

Great article, I couldn't agree with you more about David Cook being the most talented of the bunch. However....

You know, it will probably be a benefit to David Cook if he doesn't win. AI holds them to various contractual agreements and let's face it... the songs they choose for them aren't the greatest. Guys like David Cook need the freedom to create without being held back by the American Idol "people" whoever they may be. David Archuleta will do well with the title and he fits into the mold of "American Idol" well. David Cook has bigger and better things to look forward to.
