Just a Man

An Ode to My Fellow Man

M.E. Lilly
I'm just a man who laughs and cries
Like all good men who live and die
A carbon copy, nothing more
Of all the men who came before

I'm just a man who hopes and dreams
As all free men who shout and sing
A repeat chorus, loud and strong
For all the men who sang along

I'm just a man who frowns and grins
Like all true men who lose and win
A mirror image, inside out
Of all the men who went about

I'm just a man who learns and grows
As all wise men that seek and know
A common journey, nothing new
For all the men who said adieu
