Just Soap: A Truly Green Company

Missy Slink
In this more eco-friendly and environmentally aware time and age, it is fairly simple to find "green" aspects of most company's manufacturing processes. Not only are people growing more conscious of the impact of their actions on the environment, but being green has also become the trendy thing to do. However, it is rather unusual to find a company that is completely green, through and through. Because of its originality and devotion to being an all around green company, Just Soap is one company that really deserves more media attention. Not only are the products of Just Soap green, but so are the manufacturing and packaging processes as well.

Just Soap is a company that sells just what their name indicates-soap. In truly green fashion, all of the soaps made and sold by this company are from all natural, organic ingredients. There are no synthetic perfumes or chemical hardeners in Just Soap's products; instead the soaps are made with vegetable oils, essential oils, herbs, and spices combined into soaps using the traditional cold bath soap forming process. Just Soap also does not chemically remove the natural glycerin layer like many commercial soap companies do. These green soaps from Just Soap are available in a variety of colors, textures, and scents including "oatmeal honey," "sage fir," lemongrass ginger," and "orange lemon" and wash to create a mild, rich lather when bathing. All products are not tested on animals and are biodegradable.

Just Soap's method of making their green soaps is also green itself. In an innovative and fun manner, Just Soap's products are made using a bicycle-powered blender. This bicycle harnesses the energy needed to blend the soaps through a "traditional" soap making method, thus using no un-green energy in the soap forming process. Thanks to the bicycle energy providing enough power to mix large batches of soap at once, Just Soap is able to offer their products at decently low prices in an effort to keep environmentally friendly lifestyles economically feasible for their customers. Just Soap advertises itself as the "pedal-- powered natural soap" because of this green bicycling innovation.

Finally, Just Soap remembers to keep their company green even to the last detail-the packaging. The packaging for the soap bars is cut to a minimum in order to conserve resources and the "bands" that serve as packaging for each soap bar are made from 100% recycled material. Just Soap customers are also offered the option of ordering their soaps without the packaging bands for a lower price than the regular cost.
