Just Tell Me that You Love Me

Lisa R. Strong
Candy is so sweet, like a lover's kiss;
But a chocolate-covered heart;
Brings not my mind to bliss;
A rose of passionate red;
A scent of love's desire;
Just tell me that you love me instead;
That is all that my soul requires;
It is not that I don't want to receive;
These token gifts you bring;
Filled with love and good intentions;
A stuffed bear or a gemstone ring;
I need only your love and your heart so true;
Cherish me everyday, my love;
And I will do the same for you;

    Excelent poem! How many times have I seen this sort of thing? A lover (or even child) showered with extravagant gifts, but were NEVER once told they were loved!
