Just for Today"

Deborah Coss
Confused, hurt and angry…
She wondered what the problem could be?
She felt incapable and unlovable,
And like she simply could not cope,
So, she just closed out the world-
And buried her anguish in dope.
Eyes half open, refusing to see-
The guilt of the pain, had nothing to do,
with who she could, or should be.
Suddenly a door opened,
& someone she knew, invited her in-
She desperately accepted the invitation,
it was no whim.
She started to set her life right
for the very first time.
She learned that being her,
wasn't a sin & it wasn't a crime.
She learned not to leave
five minutes before the miracles happen.
And even the smallest milestones deserve some clappin'.
She has some steps to take,
12 in all if anyone is counting them.
& avoid the 13th,
even if it means doing the first 12 all over again!
They told her, you don't need to use ever again,
And every time you come here,
it's coming home to friends!
You don't have to leave here,
not now, never!
In here, we will love you,
always and forever.
So here it is our gift to you,
just sit, listen and stay.
Take it easy,
live in the present
& take care of your self, -
Just For Today.
