Justice for Michael Jackson is on Its Way!

I am truly disappointed that Dr. Conrad Murray's arraignment didn't push through Friday, February 5th. It's not just because, I wrote about it and that my credibility as a news writer had been at stake, but, as a legal professional and an advocate of justice myself, it frustrates me really!

But, the District Attorney's Office of Los Angeles must really have substantial reason for postponing the much awaited arrest and arraignment of the person allegedly responsible for Michael Jackson's death, Dr. Murray.

What could have been the reasons? Well, there are three parties involved in the picture; they all can influence the delay, and they all have reasons not to share it to media, or blind media about its development. That's actually one irony of our work and it could happen to the best of us.

But, let's dig deeper!

There's the bereaved family of MJ, his estate and the administrators. This party as a whole is of course not happy or settled with involuntary manslaughter. They already got their vital key to go against the accused. And, that's the coroner's office ruling MJ's death as a homicide that was released last month, therefore they have a case. And it's just a matter of choosing which charges would be more appropriate depending on the evidence gathered; hooking the suspect to the case and making the case stronger. So, why settle with involuntary if they can go as far as 2nd degree murder?

Then, there's Dr. Murray's party, who was initially in denial of ever prescribing and/or administering anything lethal to Michael. If his counsel knew that there are enough forensic and/or circumstantial evidences against him, the attorney could give him the option to enter a plea bargaining agreement for lesser years in jail.

Both of these could be enough reason for the D.A.'s office to delay the filing and the arraignment.

And, it is but common sense for Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman of D.A.'s office not to confirm anything to the media, because nothing has been filed yet and talking prematurely might just jeopardize things that are still in progress, or on-going, like investigations and discoveries, even arrangements or negotiations that might get hampered.

But, to consider February the 5th as a fiasco because the filing and arraignment of Dr. Conrad Murray didn't materialize that day, is not very true at all. I strongly believe that it actually pressured Murray to admit part of his alleged crime.

Moreover, I personally believe that it was really a blessing in disguise, for regardless as to when the case would be filed and when Dr. Murray would get arraigned, MJ's family, relatives, friends and his fans could now have at least a little bit of relief, knowing that justice for Michael is now on its way.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Ed Chernoff told the Los Angeles Times that negotiations with authorities over his client's surrender had broken down after police insisted he be taken into custody and handcuffed prior to his expected appearance in court Friday afternoon.

"I told them there is no way that I'm going to let my client sit in jail so you can have your show and parade him into court in handcuffs," Chernoff told L.A. Times. "That's when they pulled the plug."
