Justin Bieber is in Australia for down-under concert tour

The Biebster has arrived in Australia and by all accounts his first down-under concert tonight in Brisbane was a raging success.

Teenage girls had been staking out the Brisbane International Airport and several hotels in the city and at the Gold Coast on "Bieber watch" hoping to catch a glimpse of their teen idol. Rumor had it he was holed up at the Palazzo Versace at Main Beach, Southport near Surfers Paradise. Staff at the luxury hotel complex denied the claim. Some Brisbane fans staked out the Stamford Plaza Hotel because "that's where Lady Gaga stayed".

Sadly for the fans, Justin was holidaying in Bali and flew in to the former Brisbane International Airport on a private jet during late afternoon. He and his entourage were cleared by customs and went directly to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre for a pre-concert sound check.

Security will be tight around the teen popster during his Australian tour. He will not make any personal appearances at all. This time last year a scheduled Sydney outdoor concert had to be shut down by police when more than 5,000 teenage girls turned up screaming and sobbing, providing authorities with a crowd control nightmare.

A compromise performance was quickly organized on Network 7's Sunrise breakfast TV show where Justin sang his trademark song Baby to appease his frenzied fans. This went a long way to console the die-hard fans, some of whom had waited all night to get the pick positions for the concert.

Justin has a big surprise for his loyal Australian fans

In a tweet to fans, Justin has promised a big surprise for his Australian followers. It is rumored that Chris Brown could make a guest appearance at one of Justin's concerts. Brown is also touring Australia but hasn't attracted the type of frenzy that Justin whips up. The guest gig is likely to be in Sydney on 28 April due to a gap in Brown's schedule on that date.

Here's what Justin had to say to fans -

"AUSTRALIA ...we are coming... and there might be some surprises. LEGGO!!," Bieber tweeted. He then posted a YouTube link of his live on-stage duet with R'n'B superstar Brown, Next 2 You.

There have been rumors that Bieber might make a surprise performance at next Sunday's TV Logie Awards, but a source at TV Week magazine indicated a deal could not be done in time for the gala event. Is that so, or wishful thinking?

Justin Bieber mortalized in wax at Madame Tussards museums in three countries

On 15 March this year, Justin was in London to unveil a life-sized wax figure of himself at Madame Tussards Wax Museum. Identical wax figures were unveiled on the same day in Amsterdam and New York.

After seeing himself on display, Justin had this to say -

"To be immortalized in wax alongside some of my idols - Michael Jackson, Prince, Beyoncé and my mentor, Usher - is incredibly exciting and very cool," he said.

The Bieber statue is standing next to Usher, the singer's mentor and friend, in Tussaud's "VIP Room.
