Justin Bieber Goes Country

Justin Bieber goes country on Country Music Television! Bieber mania has officially extended into country music as the young pop phenomenon stretched his act into the different genre for an award winning video.

Bieber, who teamed up with Rascal Flatts, shared the award for Best Video Collaboration for "That Should Be Me." Unlike anything one might expect at a country music awards show, Bieber ran on stage with his pants pulled half down and wearing his hat backwards. Bieber still appeared to be kindly greeted with a round of applause from the country music audience. Perhaps that shows the success of the temporary crossover for Bieber.

After Bieber accepted the award he thanked his fans--obviously now some in the country music scene. Rascal Flatts then affirmed his arrival into the country genre by saying they had "Bieber fever."

Does this mean Bieber might continue to dip his hat into the country music scene? If the YouTube video of "That Should Be Me" is any indication, Bieber might toy with the idea. His YouTube video of the collaboration with Rascal Flatts has over 18 million hits. He appears to be a success, particularly on YouTube, no matter what genre or video he has posted.
"Bieber fever" isn't slowing down by any means. It seems he might capitalize on the hot success and record sales country artists like Taylor Swift have enjoyed in country music.

Was the CMT Video Awards appearance a sign of future appearances for Bieber? We've seen artists like Kid Rock and Darius Rucker make somewhat smooth transitions in the genre-so the door seems open for Bieber to at least weigh his options in being a semi-regular on country music awards show. Recording country music songs might be a completely different issue.
