Justin Bieber 'One Less Lonely Girl' Collection

Jesse Schmitt

Justin Bieber is everywhere. He's in concert, he's on film, he's in print, he's on "Access Hollywood" (virtually every day) and now he's in...your makeup isle? Well maybe not "your" makeup isle, but certainly your daughters makeup isle. The "One Less Lonely Girl" collection of little girls nail polish featuring Bieber is now in stores. Walking around a Target the other day, I could not believe that Bieber had made the transition to nail polish. Yet, here he is.

This is apparently not all that new of a collection with a piece up from January 2011 on the Nicole by Opi website about the exciting new brand.

"The One Less Lonely Girl collection is helping Justin raise awareness and funds for a nonprofit organization close to Justin's heart, called Pencils of Promise (PoP). PoP helps to build schools and increase educational opportunities in the developing world. Justin has joined together with PoP to build 100 schools for children around the world with the help of young people everywhere."

While Bieber doing good things for schoolchildren or whatever, his selling his image to a nail polish just seems to send off some strange signals, doesn't it? I mean, he's a boy. An effeminate boy, true. But still shouldn't a nail polish be geared with positive female role models on it rather than a boy? And how much longer will Justin Bieber want to be on the side of a nail polish bottle? After he goes through puberty it's all over for Justin Bieber "One Less Lonely Girl" nail polish, or so it seems.

Also the name seems to sort of smack of girls hooking up with whomever when they wear this nail polish. "One Less Lonely Girl." I get it that "One Less Lonely Girl" is a Justin Bieber song but the association of this name with this nail polish just seems to send a bad message.

The names of the nail polish colors are a little bit ridiculous, with some maybe even being a tad suggestive. "Not a Gold Bigger, I've Got Bieber Fever, Red-y to Runaway Love, I'm a Belieber, My Lifesaver, Step 2 the Beat of my 'Æ'''¢™'Æ'''¥, OMB!, Me + Blue, Give Me the First Dance, " among several others. It's all a little much to take.

If being a Justin Bieber groupie is all we're going to inspire our girls to be in life, that's really selling our next generation short. Of course we all have our generational fans. It will be interesting to see what comes of Justin Bieber in years hence. He will be a teeny bop heartthrob on a nail polish bottle for only so long.
