Justin Bieber's Dad and Other Non-Celebrity Celebrities
Nicole Eggenberger posted a brief article at OK! Magazine's website about Jeremy Bieber's fondness for Twitter. Under the Twitter handle of Lord Bieber, the father of one of today's hottest pop stars tweeted "And that's how we do!!!! JETSSSSS" as homage to his favorite NFL team.
This is news? This is trending? It seems "celebrity" doesn't equate to much more than being related to someone famous for actually doing something these days.
Joe Jackson faded into almost-obscurity once his sons grew out of their Jackson Five days. Tragically, since Michael Jackson's untimely death, this father has pursued any media outlet willing to give him just a few more minutes in the spotlight. Joe has battled against Michael's wishes as stated in his will and tried to arrange deals based on the fact that he contributed DNA to the King of Pop.
Would Bristol Palin even be appearing on "Dancing with the Stars" if her mother, Sarah Palin, hadn't been pulled from obscurity as a political ploy in 2008? While it's obvious that most of the celebrities on "DWTS" aren't currently appearing in regular gigs, they have done something famous in their lives. On their own.
Bristol was paraded around by her mother for two months in 2008 and hasn't had a moment of privacy since. As "DWTS" enters its final weeks, Bristol continues to score the lowest votes from the judges but stands by and watches better dancers sent home by voters. Well, at least she's found a way to support her child.
Lindsay Lohan was an adorable young actress who grew up to become one of the most-watched celebrity train wrecks in recent years. Why are her parents, Dina Lohan and Michael Lohan (and those who no doubt contributed to Lindsay's issues), considered celebrities?
Dina Lohan has her own page on ImDB with one credit as an anonymous woman in the airport in "The Parent Trap," and the rest of her credits are as herself. Michael Lohan regularly appears in stories on TMZ as he keeps asserting his parental rights onto a very troubled young woman who is well over the age of 18.
Perhaps the actual celebrities tend to be a little less accessible, leading the gossip mills and paparazzi to settling for whatever they get. This theory fails in Lindsay Lohan's very public battles with her addictions and Sarah Palin's addiction to the spotlight.
