Justin Timberlake Brings Southern Hospitality to New York City

With a southern heritage and a love for his grandmother's cooking, Justin Timberlake along with two business partners/friends launched Southern Hospitality recently in New York City. A gifted musician and singer, Justin Timberlake is loved the world over with his rhythmic dance moves and profound singing ability. Since his days as a young boy growing up in Millington a suburb of Memphis, Timberlake has had two loves, entertainment and his mother's dining room table.

Nestled about twenty-five minutes north of Memphis, Millington is home to many things, USA Baseball has had a training site there for Olympic baseball players for over twenty years. It is also a short distance from where Britney Spears grew up. All of that pales in comparison to being the home of one of the world's most loved entertainers.

Even though he is not even thirty yet, Justin Timberlake has blazed a phenomenal trail since he premiered alongside his band mates in the 90s band, N'Sync. After several platinum albums, Justin looked to broaden his horizons by working on a solo project that was purchased by every teenage girl in the world. With dancing skills modeled after Michael Jackson and a vocal ability to boot, Timberlake has become one of the most recognized and popular entertainers today.

More than just an entertainer, soon after pursuing his solo career, Justin Timberlake launched his own clothing line, William Rast as well as his own record label, Tennman Records. With the opening of Southern Hospitality, a 3,000 square foot, 135 seat restaurant, Justin again marries the roots of his southern background with a charismatic personality to make the venture swoon.

Before Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were on the Mickey Mouse Club, Millington was home. Among the homes there, no home was more important to Justin Timberlake than the one where his grandmother lived. A far cry from the glitz and glam of Tinseltown, Justin's grandmother nourished him with authentic, wholesome southern cuisine.

In between the neck bones, collard greens and sweet potatoes, Justin developed a palette for pecan pie, hot-water corn bread and chitterlings. If you do not know what chitterlings are I will only say they are the cleaned intestines of a pig. Need you know more? While some would consider such dishes uncouth, Justin Timberlake ate them daily and loves them to this day.

Whenever Justin Timberlake returns home to Memphis and Millington, his favorite place to eat is his grandmother's home. And beyond that it is places like the Rendezvous where southern cooking is done the old fashion way, right. With this love for all things southern, Justin decided that while New York City had thousands of places to eat, none of them did for him, what his grandmother's cooking did.

With the launch of Southern Hospitality, located on New York City's upper east side of Manhattan, Justin along with investors Eytan Sugarman and Trace Ayala bring a fresh approach to dining in the city that never sleeps. With barbecue as its prime offering, Southern Hospitality is sure to be a huge hit with fans of southern cooking and Justin Timberlake. Based on his taste buds and his grandmother's recipes, Timberlake and Southern Hospitality bring an exciting flare of menu items to the table.

In addition to the barbecue, crab and corn fitters, bathed in seasonings, highlight the menu along with the southern staple, fried green tomatoes. From batter to side items, Southern Hospitality does not skimp on the serving sizes, grease, or calories. This place is not for those who are counting calories or doing either Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig, save yourself the headache and temptation by not stopping by Southern Hospitality. But if you can handle the Memphis spare ribs, corn on the cob and barbecue chicken, then visit the newest eatery in the Big Apple.

If you live in New York City or are there on vacation, do yourself a favor and stop by Southern Hospitality. When the restaurant opened, there was Justin, with his grandmother in tow. They make a good team. And a mean restaurant too.
