K Fed Commercial Fairly Funny and Not Offensive for Ameritrade

Bryan Alaspa
The Nationwide commercial starring ex- Britney Spears husband Kevin Federline turned out to be rather amusing and not quite so offensive as many would have you believe. Why? Because I don't care how many groups come out and try to convince me that working in a fast food restaurant is a good thing the fact is if you work in one you really should be reassessing your career choices.

The commercial starts out with K-Fed rapping in that inimitable K-Fed style which can only be described as: bad. He is dressed in fur. He has a lot of "bling" on his hands. He then is shown to be standing doing his rap to a camera in the fry-line of a fast food restaurant.

I know this commercial started some kind of strange controversy. Who knew that people working for fast food restaurants were so sensitive about it? Could it be that if they are that willing to stand up in defend their particular working establishment that they might be protesting a little too much? I don't want to start any trouble but you do have to wonder about being in your thirties and still wearing that uniform and paper hat.

I have to say I did not want to like this commercial. I essentially did not want to like anything involved with Kevin Federline. However, this showed he has a sense of humor about things. He has a sense of humor about himself. I cannot imagine that he has much to laugh about these things in real life but if he is accepting a paycheck then he appears to have quite the funny-bone.

Of course the ultimate success or failure of a commercial is whether or not it successfully promotes the product. I cannot say that this made me want to go out and sign up with Nationwide. In fact, had I not been writing notes about this particular commercial, I might have been hard-pressed to remember who the advertiser was. This is a problem with a lot of commercials that try to be funny. They leave you laughing loudly at the moment when the actual product is being mentioned.
